Angie King (District 84) and Josh Williams (District 41) have introduced House Bill 245 - a bill to ban drag in public and/or in front of children. The bill is written in such a sloppy manner that it could be used to go against any trans or gender non-conforming person participating in the public square. The bill defines drag as "performers or entertainers who exhibit a gender identity that is different from the performer's or entertainer's gender assigned at birth using clothing, makeup, prosthetic or imitation genitals or breasts, or other physical markers." This is an obvious enforcement of rigid gender stereotypes, which would make it questionable if a female wearing a "man's" shirt, a man wearing makeup or a trans person simply existing as themselves could run afoul this legislation.

Let the (co)sponsors of this bill and all 99 Ohio House Representatives know they you support drag performers, the trans community. and oppose this bigoted bill.
