Oppose the Public Release of Syllabi!
On Wednesday, December 17th, members of AAUP NC from across the state met with UNC system President Peter Hans to discuss our concerns over the proposed syllabi release policy. This meeting is a direct result of the pressure we built with our petition with over 2,700 signatures - but the fight is not over.
We maintain power to alter this decision! Continue to share the petition and email President Hans here to express your opposition to this policy by reiterating the 4 demands of AAUP NC:
Don’t enact this policy. Allow additional time to develop a better policy that prioritizes shared governance, plans for logistical challenges, and proactively prioritizes campus safety.
Don’t leapfrog the process. Press pause on the public, searchable, database until a review of the unintended consequences has been completed.
Develop a policy that prioritizes campus safety. Operationalize the systems, processes, and resources that will be implemented proactively to protect faculty, staff, and student safety.
Provide clarification on the rationale of the policy and its implementation timeline, including but not limited to when information will be collected and made available to this public searchable database.
