Orange County Senators: Vote YES on the VISION Act - Keep Families & Communities Together!

Residents of Little Saigon and OC are calling on our OC Senators to stand for community & family unification. Vote YES on the VISION Act!

We're calling on Senators Dave Min, Josh Newman, and Tom Umberg to vote YES on the VISION Act and express public support for the bill to end ICE transfers in CA for good.

OC Senators Dave Min, Josh Newman, and Tom Umberg and CA elected officials must stand up for the values of the communities they represent and end ICE transfers! According to mandatory data reported to the state Attorney General, Orange County has executed the HIGHEST amount of ICE transfers out of all counties in CA since 2019. For context, OC transfers 4X as many community members to ICE as LA County and more than 2X as many as the second highest county, San Diego—both of which have larger populations than OC.

The violence that comes from ICE transfers and the magnitude with which it occurs in OC is reprehensible. We in Little Saigon want community and family unification, NOT more incarceration and separation. We demand that OC Senators Min, Newman, and Umberg do right by the immigrant and refugee communities they represent and vote YES on AB 937 (VISION Act).

WHAT IS THE VISION ACT (AB937)?

The VISION Act, authored by Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo, was introduced in the California state 2021 legislative session. The VISION Act would protect community members who have already been deemed eligible for release from being transferred by local jails and our state prison system to immigration detention. The VISION Act takes urgent and necessary strides toward ensuring that our local and state tax dollars are not used to funnel immigrants into dangerous health conditions in immigration detention, violate Constitutional protections, and separate immigrant families and communities.
