Our Children's Education is an Investment NOT an Expense!

On Monday, February 12, 2024, New Hanover County Schools presented a worst case scenario budget to address a $20M budget shortfall.

NHCS announced that for the 2024/2025 school year 279 staff positions would be cut. 160 of these positions work directly with students daily.

We strongly believe that education is an INVESTMENT, NOT an EXPENSE and failure to adequately invest in our school system will cause irreparable harm to not only our school district, but to our children and community as well.

We are asking the New Hanover County Commissioners to prioritize funding for our schools and approve, at a minimum, an additional $20M to bridge the gap of insufficient state funding in order to maintain current staffing levels. We ask you to prioritize OUR TAXPAYER MONEY to reflect OUR community’s values of a fully funded public school system in New Hanover County.
