PA LEGISLATORS: Support Adequate & Sustainable Funding for Community Mental Health Services

The pandemic has had an enormous impact on the mental health and well-being of Pennsylvanians of all ages. This increased demand for mental health services, combined with the impact of long-term underfunding of these lifesaving services, has pushed the state’s mental health safety net to the breaking point.

But waiting lists and caseloads for those suffering from many mental illnesses are at unprecedented levels not just because of increased demand, but also because state funding has been insufficient for years.

The state’s “base funding” for these programs has remained flat for more than a decade. Counties have stepped up and invested local dollars to deliver these lifesaving services, but the foundation is cracking. Counties have a strong track record in managing efficient, cost-effective programs, but more support from Harrisburg is necessary.

Tell your Pennsylvania state legislators to increase funding for these vital community services in the upcoming budget. Simply input your address and you'll be given a draft email to send to your state legislators on the next page. They need to hear from concerned constituents like you!
