With ever-rising housing costs and increasing rates of homelessness, it is time for NJ to affirm and expand upon the rights afforded to all residents, regardless of housing status. Throughout the country, we see local governments attempt to "address" homelessness-related concerns by simply arresting and fining individuals for sleeping outdoors. The right approach would be to seek assistance from state resources and local partners to avoid any arrests and to locate shelter and/or housing resources. Pass S1083/A1678 today and demand that we need housing, not handcuffs!
