Pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act
The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act was named in honor of the late George Floyd, who passed away on May 25, 2020, after a then-police officer pinned him to the ground and kneeled on his neck taking his life. A few weeks ago, this former officer was held accountable for his actions, but Congress should also take a stand.
While state and local officials have begun to evaluate changes
to policing that will work best in their communities, it is the responsibility
of our federal government to set a standard for justice, anti-racist policing,
and safety in America. It is long past time for legislation to be passed that
would address these problems at the federal level, and it’s imperative that the
Senate act immediately in a meaningful way.
We must urge the Senate to pass this bill. Send a letter to your Senators and let them know you support the passing of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.
