Pass the Street Vendor Advancement Act!

Demand that the DC Council Pass the Street Vendor Advancement Act Now!

On Tuesday, March 7th the DC Council will vote on the Street Vendor Advancement Amendment Act of 2023, the first of two votes! Join us in emailing the DC Council to ask them to vote YES on Tuesday!

Street Vendors are a necessary and vibrant part of DC, yet they face many obstacles under current restrictive vending laws. For one, vending is a criminal offense which can lead to police harassment. Licenses are also very expensive and regulations limit the number of vendors who can sell on a block, no matter the amount of space available.

Vendors and advocates have been organizing to fight against these systemic issues for years and they are close to the finish line! Chairman Mendelson and Councilmember Nadeau have introduced the Street Vendor Advancement Amendment Act of 2023, which will decriminalize vending without a license, establish vending zones for vendors to legally operate in, and waive unpaid licensing-related civil citations that caused vendors hardship, among many other things!

This is a huge win for our community but we still need the bill to make it swiftly through Council! So, take two minutes to email Council and ask them to vote YES at the first vote on March 7th and pass the Street Vendor Advancement Act!
