Spring 2026 Update

Two identical bills have been introduced that would repeal the death penalty in Pennsylvania - HB 99 and HB 888. The Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee vote is set to take place on Monday, April 27, 2026 and we need YOUR help urging your legislators to support the bills.

• You support HB 99 and HB 888.
• Why do you support HB 99 and HB 888.

In February of 2023, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro stated what we all know. The death penalty is fallible, and its outcome is irreversible. He announced that he would not allow executions to take place during his time as Governor. He went further by urging lawmakers to pass legislation to abolish the death penalty once and for all in the Keystone State.

A large and diverse coalition of organizations and individuals support the legislation introduced to make Pennsylvania the next state to abolish its death penalty. Now is the time to let your state legislators know that you support HB 888 and HB 99, the bills to end executions in Pennsylvania.
