Please Pass the State Budget by June 30th

The Pennsylvania House has already voted to approve Governor Shapiro’s $53.3 billion spending plan for fiscal year 2026/27.  Although the Republican leadership of the Pennsylvania State Senate has expressed misgivings about the spending, they have yet to present a plan of their own.

On May 6, the State Senate adjourned and won’t return to work until June 1.

That leaves 30 days to finalize a budget.

At least 1,700 people lost their jobs due to last year’s delayed budget, and non-profits and local governments were expected to pay millions of dollars in debt service.

Let’s not repeat last year’s mistakes.  Please take a few minutes to write your state senator, asking them to approve the governor’s budget.
