Please Support and Cosponsor S. Res. 829 on Venezuela

Please Support and Cosponsor S. Res. 829 on Venezuela

Dear Friends,

At this critical moment for Venezuela, we are asking members of our community and allies across the United States to raise their voices in support of a peaceful, democratic future for the Venezuelan people.

We have launched an Action Network petition urging members of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations to support and cosponsor S. Res. 829, a bipartisan resolution reaffirming U.S. support for a democratic transition in Venezuela through free, fair, transparent, and competitive elections.

The resolution also calls for:

  • The release of political prisoners and an end to political persecution;
  • Restoration of fundamental political and civil freedoms;
  • The safe and free participation of all democratic political actors;
  • Protection of candidates and political participants from intimidation, detention, and violence; and
  • A genuine democratic transition that restores constitutional government and the rule of law.

Because this petition targets members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, it is intended for residents of the states represented on the committee. If you live in one of the following states, your voice reaches a Senator who will help decide this resolution:

Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming.

We need your voice.

Please take a few moments to sign the petition and urge the U.S. Senate to stand with the Venezuelan people.

Every signature helps demonstrate that support for democracy and human rights in Venezuela transcends political parties and brings Americans and Venezuelans together around a fundamental principle:

Venezuela's future must be decided at the ballot box — without political prisoners, without repression, without arbitrary exclusions, and with full democratic guarantees.

The Senate is deciding now. Add your name and help make the case that this is what Americans and Venezuelans want.

In solidarity,

Venezuelan Americans in The United States

P.S. — After signing, please share the petition with your family, friends, colleagues, and community networks. The more names we gather, the harder this call is to ignore.
