Preserve Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians

On November 28th, 2025 the Trump administration announced it would end the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti beginning on February 3rd, 2026. TPS is humanitarian immigration status specifically designated for countries facing armed conflict, natural disasters, or extraordinary conditions. As of 2026, over 300,000 Haitians are in the US under TPS. For the last several years, Haiti has been overwhelmed from multi-factional violence from the national government, local gangs, and other paramilitary forces. It would be unconscionable to prioritize deporting Haitians considering the conditions they'd be returning to.

Earlier this year, Rep. Ayanna Pressley has filed a discharge (Discharge Petition No. 15) petition to force the House to take a vote to preserve TSP status for Haiti. As of March 9th, 2026 the petition has 172 signatures, but needs 218 to move forward to be considered on the House floor.

We hope this Call to Action can be shared widely with our coalition partners to help encourage an additional 46 Representatives to sign onto the petition.
