Protect $40 million in street safety capital funding
As the SFMTA works to fill a budget gap for its operating costs in FY26/27, a dangerous option is being considered: diverting $40 million in capital funding designated for street safety projects.
This is an unacceptable compromise to the safety of all San Francisco residents and visitors.
Lives are at stake every day on streets that aren’t yet sufficiently designed for our safety. Now is the time to do more projects, not fewer. This is especially true when the SFMTA has shown that where it invests in street safety projects, crash rates, speeds, and close-calls are notably reduced.
Email the SFMTA Board now to protect street safety capital funding at their upcoming budget vote.
