Santa Clara County Fast Food Workers Deserve to Know Their Rights

Last month, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors took a critical step toward protecting our 25,000 workers—many of whom are immigrants and people of color—by advancing Know Your Rights training for fast food workers. But we’re not done yet. This August 26, the Board will vote again to make it a reality.

Every day, fast food workers face unsafe, unhealthy conditions, low wages, and fear of retaliation. And when ICE shows up, it’s not just a raid—it’s a kidnapping of our community members, ripped from their jobs and families.

We need real protection. That means full-day, in-person Know Your Rights training so workers know how to defend themselves—not just from wage theft or unsafe equipment, but from federal agents trying to tear their lives apart. Workers will learn what to do in case of an immigration raid, how to assert their legal rights, and how to access care—whether it’s medical treatment, parental leave, or fair scheduling.

This training is a lifeline. But the Board still needs to approve it.

Send a letter today urging the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors to stand up for immigrant workers and approve a full-day, in-person Know Your Rights training.

Everyone deserves to be safe and healthy on the job—no exceptions.
