Protect Indigenous Religious Freedom — Support AB 1881

For generations, California Native peoples have fought to protect their sacred places, ceremonies, cultural traditions, and relationships with ancestral lands.

AB 1881, the California Indian Freedom Act, would strengthen protections for California Native American religious and spiritual practices and help ensure that Tribal Nations have a meaningful voice when government actions threaten sacred places and cultural landscapes.

Religious freedom should not end when Indigenous people seek to practice their traditions on their ancestral lands.

California has an opportunity to move beyond acknowledgment and toward meaningful protection of Native peoples, cultures, and sacred places.
