Protect Military and Coast Guard Pay During a Shutdown

Congress must act now to ensure all members of the Armed Forces — including the Coast Guard — continue to receive pay during a government shutdown. We cannot allow servicemembers and their families to suffer financial harm because of political stalemates.

During past shutdowns, the Department of Defense was covered, but the Coast Guard and their families were left behind. In 2018–2019, Coast Guard members missed paychecks, while still standing the watch and performing missions essential to our national security.

This year, legislation has been introduced — including the Pay Our Troops Act of 2026 (H.R. 5401) and other Coast Guard parity bills — to guarantee uninterrupted pay. But Congress must act.

As members of the Chief Warrant and Warrant Officers Association, we know that military service does not stop for politics — and pay should not either.

Take action now: send a letter to your members of Congress urging them to ensure military and Coast Guard pay continues no matter what.
