NJ Leaders: Protect a Livable Future with Advanced Clean Trucks -- Oppose S3817 and A4967!

Trucks entering the overburdened Ironbound neighborhood of Newark

Waterspirit and our network consider that the health of our planet is deeply connected to the health of our communities, sacred water and the air we breathe. Air pollution from trucks, as many of you may know, is a leading cause of environmental harm in New Jersey. That is why the Advanced Clean Truck regulations, set to take effect in January 2025, is critical to our work. ACT is a bold step in reducing harmful emissions from medium-and-heavy-duty vehicles, improving air quality, and protecting vulnerable communities, namely those already suffering from cumulative, intergenerational impacts of pollution.

What is the threat to this policy? Legislators have introduced a bill that would delay implementation of ACT by 2 years, allowing harmful pollution to continue unchecked. ACT offers a balanced approach, supporting manufacturers while driving the transition to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). It's a necessary move to protect air, water and the future of sacred Earth. Unfortunately, the trucking industry has been spreading misinformation; manufacturers wish to delay regulation implementation but it must start now. We need your help. Please take a moment to sign this letter to your legislators urging them to oppose Senate Bill 3817 and Assembly Bill 4967.
