This morning Republicans in Washington - including all 14 republican representatives from California -  voted to take away affordable healthcare from 5 million Californians and put millions more at risk of losing their coverage.

The bill they passed -  American Health Care Act (AHCA) -  does little to provide healthcare to anyone. Here are a few ways that the bill will hurt us all:

• Removes protections for people with pre-existent conditions so insurance companies can charge them more and cover less.

• Replaces the assistance Californians get through Covered California with much lower tax credits.

• Allows employers to reinstate annual and lifetime limits on what they will cover

• Gives states the option to eliminate "Essential Health Benefits" which will allow health plans to drop coverage for certain core services like emergency care, maternity, and mental health

• Will force California to come up with billions to continue to provide healthcare for over 3 million low-income adults.  

Everyone in California will be impacted if the AHCA becomes law. We have to continue to fight.

The bill now moves to the Senate where California’s Senators Feinstein and Harris have the opportunity to help stop it in it’s tracks.

Tell our Senators to vote “No” on any bill that cuts healthcare benefits for Californians.
