Protect Our Students, Families, and Educators! Fully Fund SENI and BSAP NOW!

LAUSD is putting equity on the chopping block in their budget proposal, placing the burden primarily on the backs of Black and Brown students at High and Highest Need schools.

LAUSD has already cut $99 MILLION dollars from the original $700 million Student Equity Needs Index (SENI) investment, and it plans to cut the remaining equity funding budget of $601 MILLION dollars over the next two school years. These cuts will eliminate resources and thousands of school staff positions that will hurt our most vulnerable students the hardest.

Additionally, LAUSD is planning to cut the Black Student Achievement Plan (BSAP) by $150 MILLION dollars when compared to the school year 2025-26. This program, which is the first-of-its-kind in the nation and has actually begun to close the racial achievement gap in LAUSD, will be gutted to a shell of what it is.

These cuts come as students and families face ongoing federal attacks on equity-focused programs and ICE raids and immigration enforcement are creating fear, disrupting attendance, and impacting student well-being across our schools. Send a message to the school board and urge them to fully fund the Student Equity Needs Index (SENI), BSAP, and protect our high and highest need schools.

Send a message to the school board and urge them to fully fund the Student Equity Needs Index (SENI), BSAP, and protect our high and highest need schools.

Our demand to LAUSD:

  • Fully restore and protect the $700 million SENI funding
  • Fully fund BSAP to $175 million
  • Safeguard high- and highest-need schools from disproportionate harm
  • Stand firm in prioritizing equity as a core value
  • Center equity in all staffing decisions
  • Ensure transparency and meaningful community engagement
