Protect Schools, Hospitals, Polling Places and Other Sensitive Locations From ICE
This bill might be heard on Tues, Feb. 3.
Protecting sensitive locations from immigration enforcement is essential to ensuring all our community members can access basic services and support without fear.
For decades, the federal government has maintained standing guidance requiring ICE to refrain from immigration enforcement actions in certain protected locations (previously known as “Sensitive Locations”). This policy was rescinded on January 20, 2025.
The lack of protection of immigrants harms the entire community. Overall public health and safety suffer if members of any specific group are precluded or afraid to access needed services.
Virginia therefore, must step in to protect its residents from immigration enforcement that unduly impedes its residents from accessing needed services and engaging in community and civic life.
Tell our delegates to vote YES on HB 1440 and HB 1442.
