Protect the Woods: Send an Email to Stop the Stadium Plan

UNC Asheville has just announced plans to develop a 45-acre mature urban forest into a stadium, housing, and commercial space despite overwhelming community concern and minimal public engagement. The UNCA Woods is one of Asheville’s last remaining urban woodlands and serves as a vital habitat, climate buffer, and educational resource. It is a classroom and research forest for UNCA. The University’s plan is moving forward quickly, with a critical meeting of the UNCA Board of Governors scheduled for June 18. Now is the time to speak up. We urge everyone to use this tool to email university leaders and partners to urge a pause on development and demand a transparent, inclusive conversation about the future of this irreplaceable public resource.
