Protect Washington's Wolves Through Stronger Accountability
Washington's wolves deserve clear protections, responsible wildlife management, and meaningful accountability.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is considering changes to its “caught-in-the-act” wolf rule, which governs when wolves may be lethally removed during attacks on domestic animals in areas without federal endangered species protections.
The proposed changes address who may act on behalf of livestock owners, when lethal action is permitted, and circumstances involving negligent livestock management.
Public comments are being accepted through November 23, 2026.
This is an opportunity to share your perspective on wolf protections, accountability, and the importance of proactive, nonlethal conflict prevention.
