Tell Congress: Rebuild the FDA and End the Nationwide Recall Nightmare

America is facing a growing food safety crisis. Nearly 11,000 people have gotten sick in an outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce, more than 450 have been hospitalized, and 2 people have died.

Eggs, jalapeños, blueberries, and other foods have also been caught up in major recalls and outbreaks this year.

Trump spent the last year gutting the FDA. His administration fired roughly 3,500 workers, experienced officials resigned in protest, and critical staffing cuts disrupted the systems that keep inspectors in the field and dangerous products off store shelves.

Now the administration is scrambling to hire thousands of FDA workers back. That alone shows how reckless these cuts were. But rebuilding the agency cannot be left to the same people who tore it apart.

Congress controls the funding and has the power to restore FDA staffing, strengthen food inspections, protect laboratories and safety programs, and make sure the agency has the resources to enforce strong standards nationwide.

Americans should be able to trust that the food they buy for their families is safe. Congress must step in, rebuild the FDA, and stop this recall nightmare from getting worse.
