Please reconsider budget trailer bills on housing!

Use this letter tool, or make a Monday morning call to Sacramento, to urge your representatives to stand up to the leadership's anti-democratic power play—putting highly consequential, very bad bills into the budget instead of letting them complete their progress through the normal bill review process (where they would likely be killed or amended by legislators who want to do the right thing by our state).
What you can do to make a difference
- Over the weekend, click on "start writing" and send them quick emails asking that these provisions be pulled from the trailer bills and returned to regular order and oversight committee review. We're providing a different letter for members of the Senate Budget Committee, which meets Monday at noon to consider these bills.
- On Monday morning, call the offices of your Senator and Assembly member, and simply ask them to support amendments removing the provisions of AB 306 from AB/SB 130 (in the current language, sections 29 - 31 and 38-41 on building standards), and vote NO on AB/SB 131 when they come before them. Click here to find your representatives and click through to their Sacramento office phone numbers.
This is something of a longshot, but we know our calls and letters matter! When we put our constituent voices together we give our elected representatives courage to stand up to the leadership and special interests, and stand up FOR all the Californians whose lives will be better if these bills are amended or defeated.
Thanks in advance,
