Regarding President Grasso's Public Statement
The University of Michigan continues to willingly and unflinchingly crack down on free speech and expression while continually violating their own policy of neutrality.
President Domenico Grasso issued a scathing public statement on behalf of UMICH regarding remarks made by a faculty member during commencement. The remarks in question? The faculty member simply celebrated students for striving to embody university values by calling attention to injustice to the genocide in Gaza. You can view his speech here: https://youtu.be/iu0xsQtkMC4?feature=shared. Not only did President Grasso issue a statement on the commencement speech on the University's behalf, but the video of the entire commencement has also subsequently been taken down.
Send a letter to the University of Michigan admin demanding that President Grasso withdraw his statement, republish the ceremony recording and pledge to protect freedom of speech of students, staff and faculty members.
