Reinstate Camden County NAACP Branch, Unit 2080!

Did you know that Camden City and the surrounding areas lack an official branch of the NAACP? In February 2021, the Camden County NAACP's charter was suspended. According to the NAACP Constitution and Bylaws, a hearing should have occurred within six months but four years later, there has been no clarity or answers provided despite calls, letters and emails from Camden NAACP members. The Camden County NAACP thus still lacks a charter to officially operate and organize. This is a grave loss to Camden City, an economically disadvantaged community that faces a host of social, political and environmental challenges. Camden needs all the advocates it can get!
South Jersey Progressive Democrats have long stood with the Camden County NAACP in solidarity, working together to advance environmental justice, protect public schools, fight corruption, and advance local democracy. We understand the vital importance of organizations on the ground as a space for activists to gather and bring more people into their work. In allyship, we call on the national NAACP to reinstate the Camden County NAACP’s charter. Please join us in this call and send your message now.
