At today’s congressional hearing on “Antisemitism on College Campuses”, Interim President Groves has announced that he has placed Dr. Jonathan Brown on leave mere minutes after discovering and misconstruing Brown’s tweet regarding the recent attacks on Iran.

This university has continued to capitulate to the Trump administration under the guise of Jewish safety. Censoring our academics and repressing our students for their pro-Palestinian views is a violation of the values that Georgetown claims to uphold. We will not stand for the conflation of anti-zionism and antisemitism; this weaponized rhetoric is what manufactures consent for the genocide in Palestine and represses students and staff here.

We demand that the investigation against Dr. Brown be dropped and that he be reinstated as the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Chair of Islamic Civilization.
