Mark Carney recently announced the purchase of up to a dozen German submarines, which are set to cost $100 billion over their lifecycle. Expected to be equipped with cruise missiles, the submarines will greatly enhance the Canadian navy’s offensive capacities. Yet there’s been little political pushback.
