Reject Bob Ferguson's Austerity Budget

January 15th was the day Washington State swore in Governor Bob Ferguson, marking the end of Governor Inslee’s three terms leading the state.

As his first act of office, he proposed 6% sweeping cuts to government agencies and cut the wealth tax from his proposed budget, saying that progressive tax advocates were “out of touch with reality.”

Ferguson will be joining over 30 (and counting) new legislators, who began the legislative session on January 13th, to pass new bills, amend existing law, and decide on how to spend our state’s two year budget.

Legislators will have to pass hundreds of bills and solve the $10 to $12 billion dollar budget shortfall the state is facing, according to the Office of Financial Management. So the job will be difficult and a lot is at stake.

Newly-elected Governor Bob Ferguson disappointed the voters who elected him when he came out against new progressive revenue to address looming budget shortfalls.

Let Ferguson and your other elected officials know that you support progressive revenue options to address our budget shortfall and fund our schools and other important social programs.
