Release COVID care now

Honor my mom with action: Please click the red "START WRITING" button to ask your Senators to pass the HEROES Act and provide the testing, health care and PPE we need to stop COVID-19.

-----

Here is why I am asking you to write your Senator today:

My mother died on June 6, 2020 after battling COVID-19 in an ICU. She first went to the hospital on May 20, 2020 with a rapid heart rate, trouble breathing and fever but tested negative for COVID-19 at that time. The hospital staff told me the tests were only 70-80% accurate and that she could flip to positive at any time. When she returned to the hospital on May 31, 2020 she was positive and had declined to the point of being admitted to the ICU. 6 days later she was dead.

My mother was fierce and the last thing she said to me, 4 days before she died was, “It’s not going to win, I’m fighting.”

Now, I am asking your help to pressure our elected officials to finally do what it takes to defeat the COVID-19 crisis before more even more lives are lost.

To start, they must pass the HEROES Act, a law that already passed the US House of Representatives that includes $75 billion for testing, tracing, and health care to support hospitals and healthcare providers and ensure free access to treatment for everyone who needs it.(1)

This aid is needed now. Congress should provide it along with the unemployment assistance and other funds people need to survive. And it must reach the communities--African Americans, people of color and low income communities-- who are hit the hardest.

Sadly, Senate Republicans are opposing getting people the health care we need now. Tell them to pass the HEROES Act and get us the tests, equipment and care we need to heal our nation.

The loss my family and so many families are going through could have been prevented. And we can still save so many more lives if our leaders act now.

Thank you for taking action today.

Sincerely,

Angela Kender, St. Louis Missouri
