On August 28, 2024 students and other activists protested the University of Michigan’s complicity in the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people. At this protest, three activists were brutally assaulted and arrested by the University of Michigan Police. One of these activists, as well as an additional protestor, required hospitalization after the UMPD onslaught. Two activists were clearly targeted due to their racial identity, with one of these activists still being held in custody unnecessarily. This violent repression of Pro-Palestinian activists is the bread and butter of the UMPD, a continuation of the University of Michigan’s fascistic tactics utilized against student and non-student protestors alike since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza.
