We are calling on New York State constituents to write to their state legislators, Governor Hochul, and the NYS Education Department regarding Education Law §818. School districts are no longer required to submit a literacy attestation survey — the only public tool that allowed families to verify whether their district's reading programs and instructional materials aligned with the science of reading.

Without it, there is no requirement for districts to publicly disclose what they are using to teach your child to read. Less transparency means less accountability, and children can continue to be taught with ineffective programs without parents ever knowing.
