Require the NYC DOE to provide sufficient space for reducing class sizes!

Please email your Council Member TODAY about the need for DOE to provide a capital plan that provides sufficient space to lower class size in overcrowded schools.

Right now, there are at least 500 schools that do not have sufficient space to meet the caps in the law, according to DOE; and our analysis revealed that these schools enroll nearly half of all non-District 75 students. The School Construction Authority itself says that 70,000 school seats will be necessary but the five-year capital plan funds less that half that many, and the DOE has taken none of the steps necessary to provide more space so that all students can receive the benefits of smaller classes.
