Return Maple Bay to the Onondaga Nation!
Dear Mr. J. Ryan McMahon II; Mr. Tim Burtis; Ms. Nodesia Hernandez; and Ms. Julie Abbott:
We call upon you to fulfill the commitment made by the Onondaga County Legislature to return land on the shore of Onondaga Lake to the Onondaga Nation. As you know, the Legislature passed two resolutions committing to this return, in 2011 and again in 2016.
The Onondaga Nation has been in a caretaking relationship with the lake since time immemorial. The Onondaga Nation’s separation from this sacred site is an injustice that must be addressed.
We ask that you take this action for the lake, for the Onondaga People, and to help heal relationships between neighbors.
No more delays, Return Maple Bay to the Onondaga Nation now!
Respectfully,
