Rio Grande Plan and WEConnect

Salt Lake City's downtown train tracks have divided our city for generations. It's time to change that.

For over a century, the tracks through downtown have cut Salt Lake City in half. The Rio Grande Plan is the only comprehensive fix that pays for itself and it would restore the historic Rio Grande Depot as a working train station, replacing the current Salt Lake Central Station, which has no restrooms or shelter and sits removed from downtown.

Despite this, the WEConnect Community Advisory Board has moved to stop advancing the plan. Every key stakeholder is already at the table through WEConnect. This is the moment to make sure the Rio Grande Plan gets a fair evaluation before that window closes.

Send a message to Mayor Mendenhall, your City Council member, and the WEConnect team urging them to keep the Rio Grande Plan on the table.
