Keep Students Safe From I.C.E

The deadly violence ushered into Minneapolis by I.C.E officers has changed our national landscape and moved everyday people to stand up and defend our neighbors. Although some of us may be further from the epicenter of the chaos, there is still work we can do.

Congress is currently re-negotiating the federal budget bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). One of the demands put forward by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Congressional Progressive Caucus for this new budget is to reinstate “sensitive locations” - meaning that our schools, places of worship, and hospitals would be protected from immigration enforcement on their premises. A long recognized practice to promote public safety, “sensitive locations” status was stripped by the Trump administration in 2025.

In this bill we have an opportunity to start winning limitations to ICE's overreach.

But Congress only has two weeks to negotiate this budget. This is a crucial moment for our members of Congress to hear their constituents loud and clear: don't agree to any budget that allows ICE activity at schools, ever.

Call your Members of Congress NOW to ban I.C.E. from any activity at or around schools, hospitals and religious institutions.
