Right now, people fleeing war, persecution, or danger can only claim asylum if they are physically in the UK. Despite this, there are almost no safe routes to get here; family reunion pathways have now been closed to new applications, while newly concocted schemes like “one in one out” are performative and cruel. Many are forced to take dangerous crossings of the Channel on small boats, risking their lives to reach safety. People are dying as a direct result of these policies.  

In our letter to MPs, we are demanding:

• The expansion of safe routes to asylum in the UK, including the restoration of family reunion pathways.

• The establishment of UK asylum processing centres abroad.

• Policies that prioritise protection and dignity over deterrence and hostility.
