Safeguard Al Aqaba & Remove Settler Outposts in West Bank
On April 8th, 2026, a young man from Tayasir, Ala'a Sbeih, was killed in Al Aqaba by a settler from a nearby outpost. Afterwrads, the Israeli military withheld his body from his grieving family for nearly 3 months. Finally, on August 6th, his body was returned and his family could finally mourn the loss of their loved one and lay Ala’a to rest in peace and dignity.
Since Ala'a was killed, Israeli settler outposts have been reestablished and removed more than 24 times in the Al Aqaba area. The village has been reporting all the illegal outposts to the Israeli police, and the village’s attorney has filed petitions with the Israeli Court to require the removal of the outposts. Some engagement from the U.S. Embassy means that the Govt. of Israel has taken some action on removal, but the settlers continue to encroach on Al Aqaba’s privately owned land, creating an extremely dangerous situation.
Because there are nearly 200 settler outposts in the West Bank, the small actions taken in Al Aqaba that have been successful must be replicated at scale, as this crisis is only escalating since the start of 2026. Communities throughout the West Bank are experiencing daily attacks from these outposts, and many communities have already been forcibly displaced.
Ask your Senators and Representative to call Ambassador Huckabee to press the Government of Israel to immediately take action to remove these Israeli settler outposts in the West Bank.
