Safeguard Palestinian Schoolchildren: 84 schools at risk
84 Palestinian schools in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have demolition orders, and escalating settler and army violence is putting children at high risk.
-On April 12th, Israeli settlers erected a razor wire barrier in Umm Al Kheir, blocking children from reaching their school– they still have not been able to go to class
-On April 21st Israeli settlers used bulldozers to demolish the school in the village of Al Maleh. This school and most of the village of Al Maleh are on land belonging to the Catholic Church
-Also on April 21st, Israeli settlers backed by the Army attacked the school in Mughayyir, shooting and killing a 13 year old student, as well as an adult who was at the scene
-On April 22nd, the village of Madama, south of Nablus, was attacked by Israeli settlers. The community hall upon which the girl’s school sits was attacked and damaged, and the village was placed under curfew
Ask Congress to safeguard Palestinian schools in the West Bank- all children should have the right to an education.
