San Francisco Families, Educators, and Community Demand Stable Schools NOW!

Educators in San Francisco have been demanding that district leaders address the stability crisis in our district for years. Year after year, our educators, students and families must endure staffing turnover, classroom and program vacancies, and threats of school site cuts.
At the same time, we have watched the district’s savings account grow larger and larger. The district's inability to staff our schools also results in overworked teachers and diminished learning environments. Thousands of our students are negatively affected by vacancies and turnover, especially in Special Education, when our district claims, despite growing unspent funds, that it cannot provide stability.

We know our district can prioritize stability for our students. We know that the classroom that hasn’t had a permanent teacher in years does not reflect that priority. We know that a refusal to consider cost-free commitments to student security and stability does not reflect that priority. We say enough is enough.

It is urgent that the Superintendent and School Board step up and direct district staff to agree to:

  • Fully funded family healthcare covering all dependents, to keep our amazing educators in our district, and to ensure we can attract more to fully staff our schools

  • Improved working and learning conditions in special education

  • Competitive wages for all educators

  • District adoption of SF City Sanctuary policies, and a commitment to continue crucial stayover program for our housing insecure families

Please send a letter by clicking the link to immediately urge our Superintendent and School Board to settle a fair contract that addresses our stability crisis, now. Our students, families, and educators can't wait.
