Tell the Canadian Government: Sanction Israel Now

Despite claims of a “ceasefire,” Israel’s violence against Palestinians continues unabated — from the killing of nearly 400 Palestinians in Gaza to ongoing displacement and ethnic cleansing of Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank. These crimes persist in large part because of Israel’s international impunity, including from Canada.

International law is clear. The International Court of Justice has affirmed that states must not aid or assist Israel’s illegal occupation and must act to ensure compliance with international humanitarian law. A UN Commission has gone further, calling on States to take all necessary and reasonable measures to bring Israel’s violations to an end.

Economic sanctions are a proven and lawful tool to compel accountability. Canada has already sanctioned a few individuals and groups linked to settler violence. It must go further.

Join us in calling on Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand to escalate Canada’s sanctions regime — targeting organizations, officials, and corporate actors directly responsible for dispossession, displacement, and the destruction of civilian life in Palestine.
