Save 82 Wentworth Park Road Glebe from demolition

Sign the letter demanding the NSW Minister for Homes stop the demolition and eviction of 82 Wentworth Park Rd!

In August the NSW Land and Housing Corporation announced that the 17 public housing units at 82 Wentworth Park Rd, Glebe, would be demolished and tenants would be forced to move.

This elegant building is only 35 years old and is home to residents who have lived there since it opened. These residents have not been offered a right of return. The dire shortage of public housing means that many will be forced to move away from their community.

82 Wentworth Park Rd should be retained and refurbished rather than demolished and privatised. The disruption and heartache that redevelopment will cause will not have any meaningful effect on the public housing waiting list. Any increase in ‘social housing’ that LAHC claims they will achieve could easily be met multiple times over if the government included public housing in their plans for the redevelopment of Blackwattle Bay.

We call on LAHC and the NSW Government to stop the demolition of 82 Wentworth Park Road and instead build public housing on land that isn't already used for it.
