Save Childcare Access and Afterschool Programs in New York

Tell Governor Hochul and state legislators to fund afterschool and childcare!

On April 1, the State budget is expected to pass - however, there are significant cuts in funding for both after school programs under LEAPS (Learning and Enrichment After School Program Supports) and the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) - in the 2025-2026 New York State Budget. There needs to be a restoration of $155 million for the LEAPS program and $1 billion for the CCAP program to ensure that afterschool and daycare programs can stay online. Without these programs, a total of 68,000 children will lose access to these necessary programs which keep them in school and engaged in the community.

Time is running out as the FY 25-26 budget is finalized. Our Albany state representatives must allocate $155 million in additional LEAPS funding and $1 billion in CCAP programming to ensure that the existing seats stay online.

Sign this petition to let your elected officials know that afterschool programs and childcare vouchers cannot be cut in the state budget
