Save Oglet Shore and Green Belt
Please write to your Liverpool councillor to object to the Liverpool John Lennon Airport expansion.
On Thursday 26th January, Liverpool City Council will vote on the acceptance of the new Local Plan. As part of the plan, Policy EC7 supports the removal of green belt designation for land at the Oglet, next to the airport, and allocates that land to the airport policy. This change, in effect, paves the way for airport expansion at a time of Climate Emergency! This entirely contradicts the Zero Carbon Plan for Liverpool and National Climate Change Committee’s emissions reductions recommendations that stipulate no regional airport can/should be expanded if we are to meet those targets in the UK.
Already, a petition set up by the Save Oglet Shore & Greenbelt campaign has almost 9,000 signatories, including myself. Add you name if you haven't done so yet and share it with friends: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-oglet-shoreline-1
Use our tool to send a letter to your Liverpool councillor before the Council vote on 26th January and ask them to oppose the Local Plan which brings us closer to airport expansion!
