Save Permanent Supportive Housing, Oppose Supervisor Dorsey's Drug-Free PSH Ordinance
DSA SF's Homelessness Working Group is organizing opposition to Supervisor Dorsey's Expanding Drug-Free Permanent Supportive Housing ordinance (File No. 251003), which blocks the creation of new Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) that does not mandate sobriety.
Dorsey's legislation purports to simply create a sober housing option for people coming out of treatment; in actuality, it pits sober housing against PSH, banning city money from being put towards new PSH projects unless they demand sobriety under threat of eviction. This ordinance threatens to undermine San Francisco's evidence-based Housing First policy at a time when the city can least afford it.
