Save School Staffing Positions

During the budget work session on April 17, 2024, the board voted to identify and prioritize a list of staff positions to keep for next school year. We are thankful that our board is taking steps to provide clarity and direction to Dr. Foust, and his staff, so that an appropriate budget, which reflects our district needs, can be submitted to the County Commissioners for approval.

In February 2024, Dr. Foust and his team presented a worst case scenario that would result in the loss of 279 staff - most being student facing positions. These positions include AIG staff, Family Life Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Special Education Teacher Assistants, Guidance Counselors, Social Works, Tech Facilitators, School Administrators, Behavioral Specialists, and many more valuable positions that support our schools and children every single day.

We also have an extensive list of capital needs to address neglected maintenance and upkeep of our school buildings, as well as overcrowding across the district.

There is bipartisan support to save all school staff positions and as a community, we are calling on our Board of Education Members to present our County Commissioners with a budget that will save all staff positions, as well as request additional funds for capital expenses.
