Save the LAUSD Crossing Guard Program!
Help us fight back against the City of Los Angeles' dangerous proposal to terminate LAUSD's Crossing Guard Program! 600 Teamsters crossing guards, represented by Teamsters Local 911, have ensured the safety of students and families for over 40 years. A loss of City funding would threaten good Union jobs and the existence of the program itself!
The City of Los Angeles has proposed that LAUSD run the program in the absence of City funding, a major cost burden that LAUSD can't afford. The City's suggestions that LAUSD staff the program with volunteers or with Parking Control officers, who would cost several times more per hour than the current Teamsters guards, are completely unworkable and would put 600 dedicated Teamsters out of work.
Crossing guards are critical for preserving the safety of every student at school, especially for our elementary schools. Send an email now and tell Mayor Bass and the LA City Council to protect the Crossing Guard Program!
