Save the Lava Ridge Wind Project. Protect America’s Clean Energy Future.
The Trump administration has canceled the Lava Ridge Wind Project in Idaho, a 1 gigawatt development that would have powered more than 750,000 homes for a full year. This project had already been approved after years of environmental review and was scaled back to protect the historic Minidoka site.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s decision to revoke that approval is part of a larger strategy to slow or kill renewable energy development nationwide. He has now required his personal approval for any new wind or solar project on federal lands, creating a bottleneck that could stall America’s clean energy transition for years.
This is not just about Idaho. Trump is dismantling renewable projects to deliver for his Big Oil donors. Every canceled wind or solar farm means more dependence on fossil fuels, more pollution, and more reliance on foreign oil from regimes like Saudi Arabia.
It is a direct attack on our climate, our economy, and our national security.
The Lava Ridge project would have created good jobs, brought millions in local revenue, and served as a model for responsibly developed renewable power in rural America. Its cancellation sends a dangerous signal to investors and developers that the United States is no longer a reliable partner in building the clean energy future.
