Say NO to New Restrictive Household Definitions

The Mayor's office of planning is proposing a new definition of "household" which will halve the number of unrelated people who are legally allowed to live together. Currently up to 6 unrelated roommates can live together in a single home or apartment. Mayor Dickens' administration plans to reduce that to only 3.

This change will make life tremendously harder for thousands of Atlantans who rely on splitting rent with roommates to afford housing. This will be especially hard for students, people with lower incomes, and people who don't have family to live with. These restrictions will lead to hundreds or thousands of people being evicted or forced to seek housing elsewhere.
