Remove the Dodger Stadium Gondola Amendment from SB 71
Dear Friends,
We’re within sight of an important win — stopping Frank McCourt from buying special favors for his gondola in Sacramento.
Can you please take a moment right now to send letters with a couple of quick clicks to Senator Scott Wiener and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas?
They have the power to easily remove language from a section of Senate Bill 71 that gives extraordinary exemptions from current law to one project in the entire state — McCourt’s proposed gondola to Dodger Stadium.
They have heard from the L.A. City Council and Mayor, who passed a resolution opposing the language in Section 3 after we pointed it out to them. They heard from more than 100 residents who showed up for our rally at L.A. State Historic Park and the wall-to-wall coverage we got in the media. Los Angeles did not ask for and does not want the gondola to receive a special carve-out from the state legislature.
Last week SB 71 was put into the “suspense file” in the Assembly Appropriations Committee after many of you sent letters opposing Section 3. But it could emerge again and go on to a vote on the Assembly and Senate floors and reach Governor Newsom’s desk.
We need to make sure that if SB 71 does go forward that Section 3 is removed.
Please add your voice right now as we press forward with this campaign to stop special favors for one billionaire’s boondoggle.
You can send your letter with an easy click or edit and individualize it if you prefer.
Together we can win!
Thank you!
